S2000M

le standard des échanges de la défense

Qu'est ce que la S2000M?

Un peu d'histoire

An integral part of the specifications proposed by ASD (Aerospace and Defence Industries Association), such as S1000D, S3000L, S4000P, S5000F, or S6000T, S2000M focuses on standardizing and defining rules, data, and processes related to material management and its support.

Developed in 1976, long before the emergence of other S-Series specifications, it was created in response to the increasing number and diversification of military programs. It was during this period that operating costs surged, and approaches began to diverge.

Principes de la S2000M et lien avec la techpub

S2000M therefore aims to standardize and harmonize the entire process of supply and identification of materials.

Beyond the basic data of a standard parts catalog, S2000M contains a vast amount of additional data and requires significant effort in this regard.

The link between S2000M data and Tech Pub is straightforward and, above all, highly beneficial. Thanks to numerous automated processes, elements related to the spare parts catalog are directly converted to generate S1000D IPD (Illustrated Parts Data) Data Modules. From there, all that remains is to provide the associated illustrations.

These Data Modules are then directly integrated into the entire S1000D maintenance documentation provided to the end customer. In conclusion, part of the documentation is directly built from S2000M data.

A qui s'adresse la S2000M ?

In order to ensure excellent stability, S2000M is directly inspired by the processes deemed stable and mature from ATA SPEC 200/100, which was widely implemented in civil aviation at the time. It is therefore naturally intended for the support of multinational military aerospace and space projects, but its scope has significantly expanded to include land and naval forces. It is now applicable and even often mandatory in all military-oriented programs.

As a result, it is used by all stakeholders in the relevant programs, including system integrators, equipment manufacturers, and, naturally, operators, who today are primarily composed of armed forces.

Thus, for projects requiring the use of the S2000M specification, all items must be codified with a NATO Stock Number (NSN). This common codification ensures full international interoperability for spare parts; since each item is identified by a unique number, it is easy to find equivalents in almost all countries worldwide, or at least among NATO members.

Que couvre la S2000M ?

L’approvisionnement et les références d’identification

S2000M allows for the standardized identification of all items necessary for the maintenance of a system. As a result, communication with the customer and the utilization of these resources are facilitated and, most importantly, shared among all suppliers and operators.

La gestion de commande

S2000M facilitates and standardizes all exchanges, whether to ensure proper supply through a fast and efficient order preparation process that precisely meets the standardized customer request. Likewise, invoicing and payment are also specified by the standard.

La gestion des réparations

S2000M also defines how repairs should be carried out. Planning, execution conditions—everything is detailed here to ensure the flawless execution of maintenance tasks, distinguishing, for example, what will be subject to field repair, workshop repair, or standard exchange.
